Monitor Help DVI to VGA

Hey there, received my computer today! and went to plug my monitor to the pc but i noticed on my monitor there's only a vga port and a power port, and on my pc theres only 2 x dvi ports on the graphics card!

so i need some vga to dvi cable or adapter...

wouldnt the first one work? plug my vga cable into the cga end and then the dvi end would fit in the dvi port

pretty sure its the wrong type female /male, I may be wrong but then if you read the description below each, the second states its specifically for the purpose you want it for.

should work my monitor needs vga, graphics card needs dvi. thts what cable does isnt it

Any DVI male to VGA male cable will work,even if it's DVI A,
as VGA is only analogue anyway.

DVI male to VGA female actually,
which you can pick up for about £2,

once again i got my wires crossed sorry i thought hehad a vga cable and wanted to convert it to dvi confused with cables slightly the socked on the gpu thats female then ?
