Hi all just would like a yes or no but some have of my fins have broken off my fan so I would like to know if it's Ok to keep original cooler on there and just put 2 fans on it does anyone know if this is Ok
"No" as Keynes said it will invalidate your warranty (assuming the card is 'new' and you have a warranty)
"Yes" you can most likely do it assuming you can find the right fans and don't mind losing the warranty
If you got the card from PCS (or another retailer) it would probably be worth getting in touch with them for some advice.
EDIT: I'm also curious as to how they broke, depending on what has happened you might not be covered by any existing warranty in any case...
Well what happened was I stripped it down to renew the thermal paste and I knocked the casing with the fans off the table and I don't know how but about 4 fins just come off one off the fan have looked every where for a replacement fan but unable to find one the card is out of warranty so that's a no go to sending it off that's why I thought I would be able to use some normal fans with cable ties and stick them on the original cooler with out the plastic cover on it
even if it was under warranty you wouldn't get much help since it looks like negligence rather than faulty hardware. Try to look for a set f fans compatible for your gpu rather using cable ties.
Thanks for the reply guys I have looked for replacement fans or trying to get almost same fan but to no luck tried manufacturer no luck so it have to be a modified fan on it I guess was going to try after market like icy revision 2 but the gap between the 2 pci express slots are not very wide so that's a no go either
Just to let you know, by removing the heatsink of the card you have already voided the warranty. Unless your manufacturer allows you to remove the heatsink without voiding the warranty. Most do not however.
