Mid range gaming PC spec £1500-£2000 is this decent?

Hello, I've made up a custom PC with the possibility of upgrading parts in the future. I have a 27inch 1440p 144hz TN monitor currently and will be going for a 34 ultra wide 1440p VA for my birthday which is soon. The aim is to run most games at high or more. Is this a good spec pc or have I over shot or undershot bits? I have a OS already so I've not included it. The speakers can be taken off, I'm just in need of a upgrade but can get these separately and wait for a good deal on a pair.

If we can play with the upper price point just a little, you could get this monster... The 7800X3D is the ideal gaming chip now and for a fair while to come. The 6950 XT is a great graphics card that's currently really cheap. It offers around the performance of a 4070 Ti for £200+ less.

You could bring the cost down by changing the cooler to the tower air cooler. It's actually enough for the 7800X3D; you could then opt for a cheaper case like the 4000D. If you want to see that build, let me know and I can post it below. Personally I'd rather be on the safer side and get the good cooler, but it's not precisely necessary.

Yeah, I'm willing to go with the case and better cooling. Would it be possible to get a 980 or 970 1TB Samsung for the SSD rather than having 2 separate ones? I'm not exactly anal about having my windows on the same SSD where I'll be placing games, plus it's cheaper. I'm not the type to hoard a bunch of games on a drive. If push comes to shove, I'll add an extra one in the future if it becomes a problem.

A 1TB 980 Pro comes out to the exact same price as 500GB Firecuda + 1TB 670p. So you get more storage for the same price. Personally I'd strongly recommend having two SSDs as well. It keeps your primary drive with plenty of space (a full SSD runs way slower than an empty one), it allows more parallel access, and it means you don't have to re-download games when re-installing Windows, as is at least occasionally a good idea.

There's no key as such with a digital license, it gets tied to the Microsoft account, so when you log onto the new computer iwith the same account, it will apply that license.

I'm not super savvy in regards to this but is the 1TB slower than the 500gb Firecuda? especially if I want loading times to be fast in games. Just wondering if I should squeeze a tiny bit extra moolah for something in regard to this area before the PC goes into production, it's processing at the moment.

You'd keep the games on the secondary drive anyway. And beyond a certain point, there's diminishing returns so you likely wouldn't notice the difference anyway. If I were to squeeze any more out, it would be to make the games storage 2TB, but either way you're good to go.

Would you say that's a better card over the 7900 XT? My PC is still in pre-production so I can change things still.

I can also see that the normal 12GB Nvidia Geforce RTX 4070 Ti is £90 pounds cheaper than the 7900 XT and is looking to be less than the 6950 XT now too. Can someone advise me on what card you would say to go for? I think I'm a bit concerned about people talking about the future-proofing with Vram.

6950XT is still far and away the best value. You're playing at 1440p, the 6950XT is too powerful for your needs, never mind going higher

Try to be sensible with the GPU. There is no future proofing, you'll need to replace it at some point to stay on top of things. Spending more money now is irrelevant, as it's not the straight up performance that will be lacking, it's the introduction of new technologies and features that will force the change to stay relevant.

Like I say, no idea where you're getting those costs from. I can only guess something else is changing when you're going to the amendments and it's not just the GPU. They are completely differently tiered cards.

Alright, let me go into details of the changes as I did for suborders with no amendedment cost.

Date: 26/05/23 to change from a RX 6950 XT to a RX 7900 XT, it cost £52.00 including VAT

Few days later, I thought I would check what it would cost for the best Amd graphics card.

Date: 29/05/23 to change from the RX 7900 XT to a RX 7900 XTX, it cost £98.00 including VAT

Added it up, that's £150.00 which is correct. Oddly, when going back today to the RX 6950 Xt or RX 7900 Xt, it deducts - £150.00 for both, which to be honest is very strange.

These are both on pricing information showing on my orders with no other changes.

Either the site is bugged out or I Dunno, but for me this is what's happening and when I updated and paid directly, that's what was taken from my bank.

Do pc specialist price match by any chance?
When I go online looking at the costs and also taking into account the different brands:

RX 6950 XT - cost is around £590 - £680
RX 7900 XT - cost is around £760 - £900
RX 7900 XTX - cost is around £950 - £1130

So I would understand the jump from the RX 7900 XT - RX 7900 XTX making some sort of sense at £150 or even £98 more. The RX 6950 XT is what's not making sense to me.

But why now would the RX 6950XT be the same price as the RX 7900 XT when I go to amend it back today from a RX 7900 XTX?

How very odd!

Like I say, I can't explain it.

If you're saying that you initially paid £1870 for the build and then paid £52 to amend to the 7900XT and then £98 to jump to the 7900XTX then you have absolutely won a watch. This would mean £2020 for a build that should have cost £2317, nearly a £300 saving.

The pricing needs more context than simply what the amendments were though, you need to look at what the initial build price was to ensure the pricing is as expected.
