Matt vs Glossy

I'm about to spend close to £2,000 on a new gaming laptop and have decided to buy the Vortex III.

Now I know this is possibly a big question and I have read lots of stuff about it but can Matte or Matte AUO be used for Gaming -
I know you get the glare with Glossy but will I really notice the quality difference in a Matte screen (colours) when compared to a Glossy?

Also what's the different between Matte and Matte AUO? And why £85 for the upgrade?

At present, the following models come fitted with a matte screen by default:

15.6" Vortex III + GTX 670M with MATTE screen
15.6" Vortex III + GTX 680M with MATTE screen

17.3" Vortex III + GTX 670M with MATTE screen
17.3" Vortex III + GTX 675M with MATTE screen
17.3" Vortex III + GTX 680M with MATTE screen


The AUO screen is an optional upgrade as this is the highest quality screen we provide.

We are starting to stock all our chassis with matte screens fitted by default but at present only the above models contain these. By October/November you will have the choice of glossy or matte at no extra cost, with the AUO screen remaining as an upgrade item.

None are due on the Vortex III series. The LE version is a limited edition however and will be sold out soon...

I would also like to know if any1 has some input,
specifically viewing angles/ gaming visuals / text-contrast look - of standard matte (60%?) vs glossy .... help ?

I think it all depends on your personal preference and also the environment which you are in. If there is a lot of glare then matte is probably better for you. However, if you play games in a darkened room then glossy will be best. The AUO matte screens have the best colour reproduction/gamut levels and are recommended for professionals whereas the standard matte will look like any other matte screen on the market.
