Massive upgrade, need help!

Hey guys, so I was wondering if anyone can help me with this spec. I currently have a really poor laptop, with major hardware and software issues. I definitely want a laptop, mainly for WoW, Skyrim and the Total War games (possibly others too). I'll also use it for general internet browsing, and possibly C++ too. Here's the spec:

Also, has anyone ever bought on finance before? And is it worth waiting around for the new mobile version of the graphics cards, so these ones become cheaper? Thanks in advance!

I would suggest upgrading to the killer wireless card. I have bought on finance twice and it is pretty straight forward, all information is available on the main website. I don't think existing chassis will be significantly cheaper but they just reach end of life and newer ones are more expensive

Hello. Your specifications lead to a price of £988 instead of the listed £997. You may have either selected the Arctic Extreme thermal paste (£9) or The extra care delivery (£9). Firstly, I would suggest that you don't necessarily need to buy an Operating system as they can be quite expensive (£79).

Due to wanting a 970m graphics card, you are limited to buying one of the more powerful (unnecessary) CPUs. Getting a 965m would be a downgrade of around 25% in power but that would still be more than powerful enough to run WoW and Skyrim at 60fps (albeit at a lower quality, but that is what you get for using a laptop where all graphics cards are weak and expensive.) I have a 750m for example which is around 65% worse than the 970m and I can run both of these games at a good fps.

Downgrading the CPU to the i5-6440HQ would probably be unnoticeable as both the one you have chosen and the 6440HQ rank quite highly. Making these changes and using the Optimus 17.3" would save around £220. If you are worried about this not being strong enough, The Optimus 17.3" allows for both the 6700HQ and the 965m as well which would save around £150.

I strongly suggest paying in one payment instead of paying by finance. Paying by finance will incur a hefty interest ( If you are unable to pay within 12 months).

Not much help if you're a Windows user.

Some companies, universities, etc have a contract with MS to have as many Windows licenses. At least that was my case, but it's something I did not realize at first. I appreciate being able to choose no OS. Most PC sellers put too much junk on custom OSs anyway.

PCS won't put any junk on there afaik. You can select to have / not to have free trials of AV software and MS office in the configurator. If you select not to have the free trials and just select Windows, you get Windows + drivers and that's all, no PC Specialist Desktop Widgets or anything of the sort :)
