Making the leap from Console - PC £1-1500 Budget

Hi Guys,

Im looking to get a custom PC built for roughly 1-1.5k budget (finally making the leap from console ayy)

I have a 4k monitor i play on my console but expect i might be pushing it to look for a PC that can run 4k ultra.

Im looking for a solid top performing PC with a decent case (for upgrades and to look fresh).

Anyone got any recommendations ? advice much appreciated in advance

Here is a decent start. This will see you managing 4k on most games at reasonable settings, maybe not quite ultra but it will be very decent.

If you want to save a little and push the boat out for Ultra 4k look at saving up for the 2080.

It is a review spec, which means you can't alter it, but you get a decent discount on what it would cost to build independently. It is a good PC with a lot of the features of our builds above. The only 'downside' is the graphics card, a 2060. This link will give you an idea of what you can expect for frames per second:

Broadly, around 40fps. If you are happy to turn down the settings then at least it gives you a starting point. I figure that would get you gaming NOW and then you can save up and sell off the 2060 for a better card when you are ready.

Then again, if you are happy to cut a few corners elsewhere...

It would NOT be as easy to upgrade in the future as The Scotster's build and it isn't the bargain that the review spec is but it does have the 2070, an 'entry level' 4K card which you can see in action here:

If waiting makes sense I will, as I’m still playing console to keep me busy outside of work.

And dropping the quality from 4K to improve frames realistically is fine with me, I had the 4K monitor for my Xbox as it has 4K capability but would be fine for PC use when I finally bought one (had the monitor like a year now)

My thoughts are - go with the first build mentioned as a solid foundation, then build up to 4K and sell the old GPU when I want to down the road.

There are new AMD CPUs due in the summer which is the main reason to go for the AM4 build over Intel (Plus price). This maximises upgrade potential. With the GPU it's always a sticking point. Ideally you want to spend once with the GPU as the resale value is often not ideal. Either spend low right now, 2060 maximum, and live with that for a bit with a view to plum for a 2080 later on....... or..... just hold off, get the 2080 and call it job done
