macrium boot disk & image file backup

Hi

I have just bought macrium software and backed up my SSD drive to an image file onto a portable usb hard disk. The image file is 25GB in size. I'm assuming that the file is using compression, because my ssd file size is 50GB?

My cd burner receives an error message from Macrium when I try to burn a rescue cd using my built in burner. This is the first time I have used my built in cd burner.

I have connected a portable cd burner and this completes correctly without any errors.

I'm new to the backup software. I used norton ghost along time ago.

I'm assuming it is best to boot from a usb stick/usb hdd???

I have just burned some photos onto a cdr disk using my built-in burner, the photos load ok but tend to be slow loading.

thanks

Jonathan

I created my Macrium bootable disk on a USB, no real reason other than it's easier to put away and store than a DVD. Macrium does compress drives when it creates images, I suppose we'd struggle to store them if they were size for size. Did you create a Linux bootable disk or WinPE?
