M.2 had 19.2 TB written on brand new build & other issues.

Hey,

Received my new build last Saturday. Installed Samsung Magician only to see that my M.2 970 EVO had 19.2TB written already on it whereas my secondary SSD had just a few GB as expected for just 12 hours worth of setup at my end. That is a hefty amount, even for a stress test.

Does anyone have any explanation why this might be? I feared I might have gotten an pre-used M.2 in my new system!

Alongside this, the 2 front USBs don't work so I suspect they have not been hooked up to the motherboard, but I can't seem to find the wires to do this. I thought this would have been checked during testing.

Finally, my AIO seems to have been fitted in a way that could degrade it quicker (tubes up top, not bottom) I get that in my case this might be difficult but I imagined that it would be fitted on the roof.

What can I do from my end that would not void my warranty or is it best to send back the system and have it fixed that way?

Aside from this, believe it or not, I'm super happy with the build. It's been a long time coming.

Any information on any of these I would be very grateful. Thanks

19.2TB - don't you mean GB since it's only a 1TB drive. Since this is your only M.2 Drive, it will be your windows installation on this. PCS would install windows on the quickest drive you have which is the M.2 drive on the motherboard.

As for AOI, I guess this is on the front, do you have extra fans on the top? If so, you could swap them around and put them at the bottom and move the AOI to the top.

Can you post a picture of the SIDE of the case with the side off so we can have a look.?

Front USBs - try and follow the cable, and make sure it's plugged into the MoBo firmly, other than that I'm not sure (I never use them). :)

Definitely mean TB, as in there has been 19.2 TB written to the drive accumulatively and then could have been formatted to be free for more space. It was why I thought this was very strange as that is a lot of media! Haha!

The AIO - I would move but I'm unsure on warranty specifics because I would have to remove components to get to screws. I have attached a picture.

As for the USB's - it's very difficult to follow the cables without cutting the cable ties and ruining the excellent job PCS did with cable management. Ha! So neat!

I would raise that with PCS regarding the drive, that’s crazy for a new drive even with a bit of benchmarking and stress testing.

The BSOD Doctor
Yeah it does fill me with joy, a Samsung program that can detect it's own drive, yet can do sod all with it (incl health stats, which is fairly helpful)
Can you post a photo of the label(s) on that NVMe drive?

I'm starting to wonder whether it's genuine......

Quick look and picture and one thing seemed odd, top menu said Samsung 970 SSD but at bottom left was labelled 980 Pro. Not familiar with this tool though so may be just be me not reading it correctly.

No worries, it is also better when I bother to turn my computer on rather than look at this site on a phone with my less than perfect eyesight.
