Looking into a Desktop for High-End PC Gaming and Video Editing

Hi there.

I currently have a PC with a 1GB Nvidia Geforce GT 640 graphics card and a Dual-Core G870 processor. It's been handy during my years of College, but I've reached a point where I would like to upgrade when I can afford it. I'm unable to play most of the new games on Steam and rendering videos I make for Youtube and capturing footage with my capture card is a pain. The processor slows things down and often messes up my recordings.

I'm looking into a PC with these components and I was wondering if this rig is good or not?

Case PCS ALPHA TRION 7622B BLACK CASE
Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-6700k (4.0GHz) 8MB Cache
Motherboard ASUS® Z170-P: ATX, LG1151, USB 3.0, SATA 6GBs
Memory (RAM) 8GB HyperX FURY DDR4 2133MHz (2 x 4GB)
Graphics Card 8GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1080 - DVI, HDMI, 3x DP - GTX VR Ready!
1st Hard Disk 2TB SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 7200RPM, 64MB CACHE
1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive 24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
Power Supply CORSAIR 450W VS SERIES™ VS-450 POWER SUPPLY
Processor Cooling Super Quiet Titan DragonFly Heatpipe Intel CPU Cooler
Sound Card ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Wireless/Wired Networking WIRELESS 802.11 AC1900 1,300Mbps/5GHz, 600Mbps/2.4GHz PCI-E CARD
USB Options MIN. 2 x USB 3.0 & 2 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL + MIN. 2 FRONT PORTS
Power Cable 1 x 1 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead)

I'm aiming for a really good processor and graphics card the most so I won't have to worry about upgrades for a really long time. I'm aiming to use a new PC with these on my TV to make sure of 4K visuals. I like a good amount of USB ports on my current rig, so i'm aiming for the back of this case to have plenty of them for things I use in the back of my current one, like the keyboard and mouse and my Capture Card. Also I am hoping to use my current 1TB hard drive into this new one as I have a lot of stuff stored that I don't want to lose.

I'm not the greatest with understanding this stuff, so any feedback will be really appreciated :)

I would suggest a modular 650w psu for better cable management and room for upgrade, a better case for better cooling and an ssd. Are you overclocking the cpu?

I'm honestly not sure what over locking a CPU is ^^'

What kind of case would you suggest, and what is an SSD?

I apologise for asking what is simple PC stuff. I'm not the greatest with understanding it all.

I've added some changes to the rig thanks to some advice from a friend. Would these specs be ok?

No need for the watercooler, on that chip I'd recommend the noctua which is much quieter and still powerful enough for a moderate overclock should you wish to in future.

I'd also opt for the 650cs series psu as its modular so enables better airflow in the case which you'll want with the 1080. It's also built of better components and around the same price.

Case should be fine.

You may want to consider the next motherboard up to give you USB 3.1 for the future and also 2666mhz ram which is only a small price increase for a few more fps.
