Logitech race wheel and USB 2.0 conundrum

I have a Logitech G923 race wheel that MUST be plugged into a spare USB 2.0 port on my PC case (FRACTAL FOCUS 2 ARGB GAMING CASE ) otherwise you get issues with dropouts when attached to a hub (even powered) or the likes.

The issue is that the race wheel's USB lead is too short or even awkward to plug/unplug when required at the back of my case.

I was, but haven't yet thinking of using a short 480mbps 1M USB 2.0 extender cable, as that seems the logical thing to do. But further research sort of states the reason for the wheel's cable length being the length it is, is for optimum power requirements at its standard length. Obviously they've worked out that any longer could create instability.

The next logical answer is to use an (active) USB 2.0 extender, but I don't like the extra long lengths they come in. 1 or 2 M would be fine I suppose, but can't seem to find any.

My case does have 2x USB.3.0 ports on top which are not suitable, and I'm not sure how easy it would be to swap them out for USB 2.0, as they look purpose built in.
It also seems an additional USB 2.0 back chasis strip is not an option too, as it interferes with the GPU..."*Additional brackets available from Fractal but will limit GPU and front radiator support"...as stated on the case specs. There are no front bays with this case, plus one side is glass, the other metal.

I suppose I could purchase and connect a USB 2.0 Bay strip to the MOBO and MacGyver a hole in the metal side of the case for it to hang out if the supplied lead was long enough as a last resort.

Has anyone else had this problem and maybe some solutions or ideas for me to try out?

Thanks

There's definitely something strange. I have a full Fanatec system going through a USB hub at the same time as a USB kicker type pillow, Flight stick and also a motion rig. It took a bit of testing to get the right USB hub, but once I had it in place it's been brilliant.

As above there should also be no issue using USB3.0/3.1. You do get some devices that just won't play nice at all but I don't think I've ever heard of input devices being one of them.

There's something weird going on with your wheel and/or PC. The G923 should work fine in a USB 3.0 port and I have seen people mention it working fine using a powered USB hub (albeit people on Reddit so who knows the accuracy)

I have no idea on solutions though.
Yeah sometimes it will run for a few sessions without problems, but the wheel eventually becomes unresponsive and needs quickly reinserting into the powered hub. I had read that the wheel must be plugged into a USB 2 port on the case by the logitech team.
I've just sent off for a 5M active USB 2 cable, so will give that a go when it arrives.

Maybe Fanatec isn't as restricted when it comes to feeding. But yes, I did find it strange that they insist on USB2, as we all know 3 is backward tech so you'd think it would make no difference! I have sent for an active usb2 cable, but I suppose I should really try the USB3 port atop of my tower. I've only assumed this would create the drop out as the hub was powered and plugged into the back of my case using one of the more powerful USB3 ports on the back of my case. It is only the signal and not the power that is causing this issue I belive, as the wheel also has it's own independant power brick. Of course the powered hub could have a fault, but I did try it in a different usb3 port on the hub too.

I did see others on reddit saying they had no problem using a hub and some like myself having this issue.

Thanks for the replies.
