Lines across screen issue

Hi there,

I've attached my laptop specs and I am a PCSpecialist customer.

I was at meeting yesterday showcasing a VR experience to my client when suddenly this happened to my laptop monitor. However the performance of the VR experience or laptop in general was not diminished and the lines did not carry across to the VR headset which was tethered via USBC.

It wasn't knocked or hit, or tapped or moved erratically in any way whatsoever, it was just sitting on the desk untouched. I've used it for showcasing VR stuff since I've had it and never had issues.

Can you please help me solve this problem, I'm experienced in my own technical repairs so if it's something I can do myself with your guidence I'd be happy to try. I haven't opened it or attempted to fix it myself yet.

NOTE: I have installed and used DDU and reinstalled the GPU drivers since and nothing has changed. I suspect it's the ribbon connecting to the motherboard but then again it could be many things.

Please help :)

I'll leave it to better trouble-shooters to help with the issue but I would remove the build info as it has your Windows key on it and that could be stolen. View here on how to show your build info but make sure that Windows Key isn't on it.

As it’s showing outside of windows on the PCS boot logo, it proves it’s a hardware issue, either either GPU or the screen itself. You’d need to sort an RMA

Have you serviced it since you’ve had it? Have you been monitoring temps?

Hi there, I've edited the picture to remove the key. I've been monitoring temps and all seems ok but sometimes they do get high, into the 80 Decree Celsius range.

I haven't had it serviced before no. How do I do an RMA?

In your PCS account, top right once you’re logged in.

Can you plug it into a monitor? Just to see that if it carries over there. I think it may be the screen, which is a far cheaper fix than GPU. RMA is definitely required though.

Contact them for the RMA information. The panel might have an extended warranty on it's own (Unlikely, but plausible).

If the cost is too much you can then look at alternatives:

1. If you're feeling brave, get a replacement panel and change it yourself.

2. Live with it as is and plug it into a monitor for prolonged use.
