Blimey... this one got under my radar but sad all the same.

Odd one this, but despite being born in '77, the Carry On's and other staples of yesteryear featured pretty heavily and fondly in my childhood. My grandad was a projectionist originally (and served as such in the Army in Germany after surviving to VE Day) but was a film archivist up in London by the time I was around. He shared a mad love of Carry On, Ealing, RKO, Hammer and Rank 'filums' and old serials with me and it kind of stuck. Of course, growing up I was alone in that among my friends, who all had satellite aso for the latest 80's fads.
