large capacity ssd

would it be ok to use 960gb crucial m500 ssd as solitary storage device in a new build. i know it's expensive but I'm thinking future proofing here as this will probably my last descktop ever. or would wd black dual drive be a better option.

Yea does seem a tad overkill. Id go for a 120/240gb ssd and a 1 or 2tb caviar black.

used for all sorts really. gaming, photo editing,internet.what i really want is a pc that will be able to keep up in say 5 years time and ssd have to be the future don't they? what i don't want to end up with is a pc that can't play modern games or run resource hungry programs in the future. impossible dream me thinks :surrender: Probably best to upgrade as required is it?

The only reason why I think you will benefit from an SSD is by using it as a scratch disc for photoshop. It is almost impossible to futureproof a desktop especially for 5 years. I honestly don't think is sensible to spend a lot of money for an SSD, if you are worry about gaming you want to get a better gpu than the one you selected. You also have a CPU unlock for overclocking but not a suitable cpu cooler.

I agree with Keynes and Tom, plus drives are easy to upgrade so who knows what will be out in 5 years time.
