Laptop spec opinion

Hi,

I'm replacing my old laptop which was purchased back in 2013 from PC Specialist and it lasted really well. I've spec'd out the following laptop but want some 2nd opinions if possible.

My uses:
Heavy: Google Chrome (Google sheets, docs, Wordpress websites etc..), Screaming Frog (SEO software), Sitebulb (SEO software).
Occasional: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign (infrequent)
Maybe in the future: Some games such as Fortnight (if I get chance :))

Also, a small 120gb SD HDD has been selected as I already have a HD which I will be using instead, so I will be swapping this out. Also same with no OS required as I have it already

Can you add the url to the ordering page pls? I'm not 100% on this chassis and it's capabilities, but if you can I'd select the fastest RAM possible (this might be the max for the laptop?).

Are you specifically looking at this laptop for aesthetic reasons? An AMD build might be a better option.

Sure - URL for the order is https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/cosmosIX-15/pGWEmksd5F/

Aesthetic reasons for the laptop? No. I chose it for the value for money to be honest, but interestingly you mentioned AMD for a better option. Why is that? It's been years since I used an AMD processor. Would you recommend them better than the i7 I have selected?

Also, this laptop takes a maximum of 64gb which is great for the future, but interested to hear more on your thoughts.

Cheers

Unfortunately there isnt a great deal of choice in this price range, also PCS dont seem to offer a great selection of AMD systems unlike the desktops.

You mention you have a drive to put in this PC, what sort of drive is it?

It's a 512gb SSD, so rather than wasting it, I was going to use that instead.

I'm assuming though, for my uses, I won't notice a difference between Intel or an AMD processor? I get that if I was doing some really heavy lifting, then the difference is probably noticeable? Also, 16GB ram should be plenty for what I am doing?

Thanks again

No you might not need to, I'd spend an extra tenner on 16 GB (2 x 8GB) 2666 MHz RAM, OK it's not gonna make a massive difference but any boost is better than nowt.

Yea 16GB will be plenty, you may want to consider upgrading to the 2x8GB 2666Mhz ram, two ram sticks will allow the memory to operate in dual channel mode that gives you a significant speed bump and is well worth the cost.

Learning everyday here, thank you! I was thinking save a slot, single piece of 16gb then add more later but didn’t realise about dual channel mode.
