Hello,
I'm looking for recommendations for a laptop that will run either the Audacity or Reaper DAWs. I would also be using the laptop for online learning, but not entertainment such as movies, youtube, or gaming.
The main thing to consider is that I'm an amateur musician that will be recording nothing more sophisticated than guitars and bass. No vocals as I play twangy surf instrumentals! I currently use my wife's 12 year old clunky Toshiba Satellite with Audacity, which works reasonably well considering. But, now I want to give it the last rites.
Display size and storage are not a problem as I have a monitor and external drive.
With a limited budget c.£500 I was looking at the 14' Initia.
My main questions are:
1) i3-10110U or i5-1035G1? I know the i5 is the more powerful, but would the i3 work just as well for my DAW usage with their non-game level graphics?
2) Or the 15.6” Initia AMD with the Ryzen 4500U processor?
3) Are the RAM and SSD upgradeable?
Thanks for your time.
