Hey, guys, this is my first of hopefully many on this wonderful site's forums. I have a budget of £800 to spend on a laptop for University, and after days of searching around, this is what I think is going to be my best bet. Others have sub-par graphics cards, or previous-gen processors for the same amount of money.

Anyway, what I'm looking for is mobility, so please, no suggestions of desktops, I really can't stand dragging a desktop around while moving into and around Uni.

I want to play a couple games like WoW, as well as watch movies, and TV on this, so I've gotten a TV card seperately. Any thoughts? This really is the top end of my budget.

Thats what i thought. Just thought someone was going to say to go for a scorpio drive, while a one 4GB stick module would do and can be upgraded later and the investment could go for a higher cpu.

looks good to go for me, if the budget is maxed out theres not really any improvements to be made

It only raised it by £3 from what i've tried. but still over budget so it all goes to what Scryus agrees with :)

My bad, I actually looked at this on a separate computer last night, and did decide to switch up to the faster 7200rpm drive. Point taken :)

Seriously? Neither of you noticed the Standard Warranty?
:D my work is done

Didn't see the £5 option, I thought you were inferring i should spend the extra £69. Thanks for pointing it out!

Its good :D since laptop drives are quite the fiddle if upgraded over time. while gpu an cpu aren't upgradable but rams can be done simply anyday.

Heh no probs. The way I said it wasnt that clear and was more directed at Teaz and Gorman for not picking up on it themselves :D

And I think the day we start telling people to add the £69 version, we might be classed as rather taking the proverbial :D

Another thing I would like to know, I've looked up the 555M benchmark and it suggests the following:

These cards offer the best 3D performance in a laptop. They can handle all the latest games at high resolutions and high detail settings. The power consumption of these GPUs is very high, therefore, only big laptops with bad battery life usually offer these cards.

Will the 555M run WoW and other similar games comfortably, and at what detail level are we talking? If you can provide any similar benchmarks to WoW, I would love to hear.

The battery that pcs will provide for the laptop should be no problem and the 555m should be no prob with games at a comfortable level. Try this site as a rough guide and see.
