Hi all, this will be a first time PCS purchase for me - despite being aware of the site for a few years :)

Will be using this for occasional software development work on the move - including running a couple of virtual machines (hence the large amount of RAM). As I will likely be lugging it up and down the country - I'm aiming to keep it light.

I'm struggling to decided between the i5 and the i7, I'm leaning towards the i5 as I'm not sure how much benefit the higher clock speed would provide on the i7.
Price wise I could go up a bit - ideally I'd stay below £1200 but I have some flexibility.

I've left the Storage drive slot empty with the intention to add a drive later If I need it (I should be O.K with 1TB) - But I'm curious if anyone knows how easy/difficult it is to add a drive here at a later date? (e.g. can the section for the 2.5" drive be accessed without taking the whole thing apart?)

Would appreciate any suggestions/thoughts.

It's a difficult call, the 32GB of RAM and 1TB NVMe are obviously great and high end choices, but the U series CPU could be your biggest challenge. Going to a H series processor will impact portability and battery life so it's a bit of a double edged sword.

How taxing are your virtualised machines, especially on the CPU?

I have the same CPU in my ultrabook and it's surprisingly fast, it's not a H series and you can tell when putting it under load and as an example Minecraft makes it sound like it's in pain.

If you can afford to drop battery life and a little portability i'd advise a H series CPU, if not it's a good specification.
