Laptop drivers.

Can you install reference GPU drivers off the nvidia site? Someone bought a Gigabyte gaming laptop and said on another forum that Gigabyte have said do not update drivers. They state something about manufacturer's having there own vbios or something, rendering reference drivers unusable, therefore having to wait for special drivers to be created for Gigabyte, Lenovo and so on.

As far as I understood it Nvidia drivers should work just fine. I stand ready to be corrected though.

The reason Nvidia do the drivers is it should be the same card and any fool can put Nvidias products in a random laptop. Nvidia would then want to supply the latest drivers if the random company didn't update the drivers because they went bust or just didn't have the resources to be doing it.
