Hi there everyone
My laptop will no longer boot up; its not in sleep mode. I have a mouse pointer. Any help to get it started would be appreciated

Can you boot the Windows installation DVD? If you can then run Startup Repair to see whether that helps.

after two or three poweron-poweroff cycles, the laptop has booted up normally; how strange is that!!!
