Yes - this spec is good for gaming, but you will be limited by the graphics card. For example, you can't play the latest games on max settings, but of medium settings it will be fine. If your friend is a serious gamer, ask your friend to consider a desktop PC instead of a laptop, because you can get better graphics for the same price.
