Laptop - Budget around 500-650

I am a student and looking for a laptop so I can do work on the go instead of being bound by my desktop as it's far from portable.

I need a 64bit so I can run Autodesk Maya and on my course I mod in Skyrim and use the Creation Kit so being capable of running games fairly and that sort of program would be useful. I'm not an avid gamer so it just needs to run fairly well not on the level of a gaming build.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if it's allowed but it's just to develop my understanding a bit more, why is it worth going for a 699 on this site when this is 400? [Competitor links not allowed I'm afraid]

Would the 699 be way better? Other than the graphics card which I don't understand the quality of it, I think the specs of that are good but is the processor poor? and what about the graphics card?

It is not allowed to post competitors link and it is also not as good as they skyfire 14.

The Skyfire in the review section has a 4th gen CPU rather than the 3rd from currys. Also PCs uses higher quality parts than currys and better service imo.
The 720m gpu in the one for £650 is pretty poor for gaming.

If was to go for the SkyFire what improvements would you recommend I make on the build? So far all I've done is make the RAM 8GB. Thanks for your help so far btw.

The £400 machine had a lesser CPU (A8-4555M) and only had integrated graphics.
The £650 one has a lesser graphics card (GT720M) and a i7-3537U CPU.
So the Skyfire although more expensive is much better

For the CPU you wont notice any improvement gaming wise.
With th gpu you will be able to play on a higher setting with more fps.
