Laptop advice for gaming+university.

Hi all,

I'm in the position where I need to get a new laptop for my University course and so was thinking I might as well get a gaming laptop so I can use it for both.

I study Engineering so will be using software including:

• Matlab.
• Python.
• Solidworks.
• CATIA.
• FEA.
• CFD.

In terms of gaming my most common games vary between:

• Minecraft.
• KSP.
• Bannerlord.
• EU4.
• HOI4.
• Red Dead 2

My main concerns are that I need it to be able to be quiet when not gaming (for studying) and have a semi-decent battery life without being too heavy and cumbersome.

Hi, there I'm trying to keep it <£1000, obviously this spec is just above that which is fine.

Yeah, I know the battery won't be brilliant and 2-3 hours is perfectly fine but I've just seen reviews of gaming laptops online with battery lives of around 1 hour. I'll only be gaming on it when it is plugged in anyway.

Hey, so
for your spec, here is what I'd change :
- 2 ram stick instead of 1 (2x8)
- the golden warranty instead of the silver one and the dead pixels guarantee

it's better to have 2 ssd instead of only one, but it's up to you

I know that these change increase the price to 1174, but i think the warranty and the guarantee are worth the price
