Lafite II Annoying Fan Problem

Just received the new Lafite II and it looks excellent and is really fast.

However, there's one major annoying problem - The fan keeps turning on and off every few seconds continuously despite not having many apps open.

I've read that this is not an isolated problem, so just wondering if anyone has found a fix for this?

Although the fan is not very loud, it's still very noticeable and irritating.

From what I've read, we're waiting on a BIOS update to address this, this comes direct from Clevo so we're just waiting on them.

Is it confirmed that there will be a BIOS update? I bought mine from another vendor and they say they doubt there will be a BIOS update. I don't think the lafite is produced by Clevo.

I am also having this issue too. For the most part the fan remains off however when performing more demanding tasks it begins to turn on and off repeatedly. I certainly hope there is a fix for it soon.

I came close to returning my laptop for a refund. I didn't in the end because a Windows update seemed to have fixed the problem. However, it's starting up again after having some 'not so intensive' apps running. It always seems to kick in when the temp is around 60 degrees.

I noticed just the same - after Windows update the fan works better but still does kick in at about 60 degrees. As we have another laptop at home with Haswell i3 I am used to temperatures around 37-45 degrees, not 60+ most of the time...
Waiting for BIOS update or maybe even considering return...

Same as above, really curious about the BIOS update. Pretty much the only thing stopping me from ordering this now.

I contacted PCS last week and they said there is no BIOS update available.

Thanks for the message. guess there won't ever be one then.
Such a shame, apart from this issue it seems like a great laptop.

Just to say using Ubuntu linux 15.10 , you really never hear the Fan on Lafité 2 i5 , I guess you might try some up to date distro of your choice.
