Keyboard questions

Hi,

I'm perhaps unique since, to me, the keyboard and touchpad are the most important components in a laptop, since this is the main interface to the device and something you have to live with for as long as you have it. I'm quite set in my ways so have some exact requirements, however it is unclear which of the PCS chassis/models will suit these. (E.g. in the videos the arrow keys are blank for some of the laptops... I'm hoping that's just aesthetic and FN+ARROWS does something useful)

Here are the requirements, if you own a certain model (or work at PCS!) and know that it meets all of these please let me know!

1) UK keyboard layout:
¬!"£$%^&*()_+ (shift top row)
`1234567890-=
QWERTYUIOP[](return) (shift for {})
ASDFGHJKL;'#(return) (shift for ~)
\ZXCVBNM,./ (shift for |...<>?)

2) Double-height return key (I think this is UK standard?) I find that I usually hit the top part of the key so do not get on well with the US layout which has a single height return key only in the ASDF row)

3) Holding down the FN key (next to left CTRL) and pressing the arrows should provide:
FN+LEFT = Home
FN+RIGHT = End
FN+UP = PageUp
FN+DOWN = PageDown

4) Touchpad has separate (not touch sensitive) buttons at the bottom of the pad area

5) Full numeric keypad (four columns):
/*- (doesn't matter what's on the far left of this row)
789+
456+
123(enter)
00.(enter)
(This one is not an absolute requirement... I might decide that a squashed, 3-column, numeric pad is workable but a 4-column pad would be better)

The only other real requirements are:

  • At least four hours battery life (longer is better)
  • 1920x1080 display (or 3K)
  • At least 15.6" display
  • i7 processor options

If you could let me know which model(s) meet requirements 1 to 4, and possibly 5 as well, that would be great. I can then narrow down my choices and hope to make a purchase before the end of January.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure why it's relevant - the query/requirements are absolute and the usage doesn't affect them. The budget is approx £1000+VAT but I don't think that affects the keyboard/touchpad questions!

Anyway, since you ask, I use my laptop 8-16 hours a day to run a small business, do both graphical and analytical/spreadsheet work, coding (including IDE and web server), email, "intensive web" (where my current PC seems to be straining and running JS slowly), and so on. Running a business and having a young family makes gaming infrequent. In the past 3 years I played through Skyrim but that's about it!

I hope that helps and I look forward to hearing back from some owners/techs that know about the keyboard config!
