Keyboard problem on Recoil series.

Hi there, I own a recoil series, sometime ago my backlit keyboard has completely stopped working. Every now and then, it will turn on once I start my computer. Does any one know what keyboards were fitted in those models and or a part number for spare part ? Also what may cause this use ? Thanks 🙏

Could you copy and paste the specs but remember to remove your windows license key, you don't want that public!

If you raise it with PCS, the keyboard is part of the chassis, it's not user replaceable, you have to replace the whole of the top of the chassis.

Godlike

This is a very unfortunate trend of modern laptops and I'm not sure why manufacturers have gone this way.

The cynical side of me does wonder whether or not its a ploy to get more money out of the consumer in case of repair, as pioneered by everyone's favourite tech company, Apple.

Bump. Just before warranty was to expire back in April,I’ve sent the laptop away for RMA, it came back apparently there was no issues found(possible loose Ribon or driver issues). PCS also done a nice clean up and to top up a stress test and so on. Since then I probably used it like 10 times and the issue is back…. Keyboard is not working at all, no backlight and it goes straight to BIOS.

So it would be control center that governs the RGB, is that installed?

no backlight and it goes straight to BIOS.
What do you mean it goes straight to BIOS? Is that when you boot it? Does it have any error message?

Just to confirm are you using the windows 11 control center or still using the windows 10 version?

Just to be certain, can you post the chassis model number from the label on the underside of the laptop?

Yes,it goes straight to BIOS after being turned on. No errors, no issues in the device manager… I’m using windows 11, all updates from Microsoft are up to date.

As above, are you using the original windows 10 version of control center or the updated windows 11 version? It may have been called Gaming Center on that old a chassis?

At the moment I’m using a original version of windows 11, however a separate license instead of the version provided by PCS. However the issue started while the laptop had an updated win 11 from PCS, as that’s what they left after it came back from RMA.

I’m in the process of downloading win 11 provided by PCS, as it has the “gaming centre/control centre” merged within. We’ll see if that makes any difference, however I doubt that.

So yeah, not windows, not talking about that, it's a master driver that needs to be installed on the laptop and governs most things including the RGB on the keyboard. It's called control center or sometime gaming center. It will be in running programs.

Have you reinstalled windows or reset windows since you returned it to PCS?

Yep, I’ve done it after the keyboard stopped working.
