Hi, I just purchased the Vortex Elite III with the 7970m CF option, I had a couple of questions

1) Does PC Specialist install the latest AMD drivers as per this post https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/foru...-HD-7970M-Status-January-2013&highlight=7970m

2) Is there potential for overheating problems, does PC Specialist recommend things to do to negate this?

3) How loud can the laptop sound when playing a graphic enriched game i.e. Farcry 3 etc

Thanks in advance

I am toying with the idea of changing the 7970m CF to just one single 680m but answers to those questions will help

Thanks in advance

Hey there.

1) As replied on the thread. :)

2) Powerful laptop GPUs do run hot, so while there is a potential no it should not be happening and there are no official recommendations. This would of course be covered under warranty.

3) Like all gaming laptops, pretty loud. When benchmarked under load the Vortex III with a single GPU (HD 7970M) is reported at 40dBA (a fridge). In comparison a hairdryer would be 70dBA.

I assume the second card would contribute to further noise. Personally I think it comes down to whether or not you wear headphones! When watching a film or browsing the web on the integrated it's much quieter (but still audible).
