This other speck comes out at the same price but mainly the difference is, it is using a quad Intel core (what is the difference between 6 and 4, is it cache size?) and there is NVIDIA cards instead of ATI.

Whats the difference between the i5 and i7 apart from the clock speeds? also does network cards make much of a difference, just read a review on the killer 2100 and it said it was crap so i agree with you on taking that out.

There are more differences than the clock speed - there's a nice, clear description at http://www.brighthub.com/computing/hardware/articles/48391.aspx The biggest difference with the newer Sandy Bridge i's is that the i7's support Hyperthreading and the i5's don't. That's not a big deal for most people - hyperthreading is currently only significant for a few specific applications (mainly high-end video editing) and these new i's are incredibly powerful without it. Basically, Hyperthreading is one of those things where if you have to ask, you don't need it.

At present, there's no real reason to go for anything other than the i5 - superb CPU.

The network card will make almost no difference, so its useless, the difference in performance is not big between the i7-2600k and the i5-2500k, the i7 has got hypethreading and the i5 doesn't, but that doesn't make much difference, so you should be fine with i5.
btw what are you going to be using the pc for?

Pretty much purely high end gaming, games like AION with online play. But i was thinking of getting into a bit of video editing, but only using programs such as song vegas, so nothing too hardcore. Also i want to overclock a lot of my components, but the spec says i only need an 800W supply should i get a 1000W if i am overclocking?

For gaming the i5 should be fine, but if your are planing to have 2 gtx580 in sli at a later date and overclocking then having a 1000w psu would be a good idea,
