Issues I am facing...

Hi, I am having so many issues with my computer... It is crashing multiple time daily as of late. I have contacted PC specialist and I eagerly await their reply tomorrow (hopefully).
To begin with I feel it would be appropriate to just outline some of the difficulties I am having other than the constant crashing. I ordered my PC in June, and when it arrived it worked fine for a week or two, but after returning from a two week holiday I turned on my computer only to discover the SSD was no longer working. So, had to send it back to get it repaired, as I was a bit concerned about some of the other hardware as well.

So they fixed it and sent it back to me. However since it was returned a number of other issues have emerged, for instance the edimax wireless card does not work at all. Also the computer would crash about once a week or so. These things were an annoyance however I put up with them. So there was a few months or it working well-ish, but as of late it is past the point of toleration.

As I have already mentioned, it is crashing constantly, and this is under very light use i.e. web browsing. Today alone it has already crashed twice, the crash 'code' in these 2 instances begin with '0x000000F4' and '0x0000007A' I tell you this in the hope that one of you might be able to shed some light on to the issues I am having. The crashing is not the only issue. Sometimes the computer will not start at all, and I have to reboot it manually, or change the boot priority in the Bios. Also the boot up times are from satisfactory for an SSD, and my 2 year old Mac book loads faster. Another issue I am having is with the windows UI. When I drag a window over another window, there is a strange graphical defect which is a problem I have had since my PC arrived. The defect could be described as lag or tearing, as you can see the borders of the window you have just dragged over the other window.

Sounds like a possible memory fault to me. Have you run the windows memory diagnostic.
Another way to test is to use the pc with 1 stick of memory at a time. You have 3 sticks and if 1 is causing problems you will soon know about it when using it on its own.

Hi, so I just ran a memory diagnostic and everything appeared to be fine. It say no memory errors were detected. I have a feeling it may have something to do with the graphics card I am using... I have heard accounts of people who have have many arduous difficulties with the GTX 590 and I am lead to understand that dual gpu cards are not the best for a number of reasons. I wish I would have known this at the point of sale, as I would have not chosen this card an instead have gone for the gtx 580. I also have a feeling that many of the crashes may be linked to a recent driver update, and thats fine, I suppose I could unistall the latest driver and replace it with an eariler one, but how long will it be until Nvidia release a driver update that optimizes the GTX 590? As it is certain games such as Rage really, really struggle with early drivers, and this is ruining my gaming experience. I may have to return this pc to PC specialist and change the gtx 590 for a pair of gtx 580's as I do not believable that the gtx 590 is of satisfactory quality, and to be honest it is not fulfilling the purpose for which it was intended...

this is why all software gets regular updates. Wether it be windows, nvidia, amd etc. Issues are reported and they correct em in the next driver / update release. Way of the world im afraid.

i would follow Maesto's advice, remove 1 stick see if it's stable - if not saw with a remaining stick. if after all the swapping you haven't pinpointed a problem memory stick then maybe it is the graphics card. you mention you're running SLI, (i only have 1 card so no experience...) can run on 1 card by disabling the SLI ? or remove the 2nd card. as a last resort remove both cards and put 2nd card into the first slot, to rule out a problem with the 1st card.

lots of swapping in and out i know but a good way to rule things out. phone them tomorrow if you're not confident at doing it and they'll talk you thorugh. don't forget to check the queue : http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/contact-us/

@iLouis might be a good idea to edit ya last post there, family forum here so try and keep the language down.

I understand you are annoyed, but I'd defo call pcs, you dont have to ask them to fix it, but as for advice on how to do it yourself.

You could try a reinstall of the OS.
