Hi,

I bough this PC a few years back and now with the recent games i am having FPS issues like in overwatch and some games i can't but be cause the PC cannot simply handle it. I was thinking of replacing the ram and the graphics card on this PC, and was wondering whether with the 8GB Radeon RX 580, would it be compatible with this PC or if not can you recommend another one in the ATI range.

Thanks

Jay

The graphics card doesn't have to be ATI (now known as AMD or Radeon). An Nvidia GPU would be fine - and in the current climate, arguably better value.

I'd suggest something like a GTX 1060 3gb, which you should be able to get your hands on for under £200. The performance is a bit under the RX 580 or GTX 1060 6gb, but that doesn't really matter since your CPU is sufficiently old that it's going to start bottlenecking fairly powerful modern GPUs anyway.

The RX 580 can have pretty high power consumption. A 450W PSU is probably alright, but given that the RX 580 is pretty expensive these days, uses more power, and that you have a somewhat weak CPU, I'd suggest the 1060 3gb as being your best bang for buck option.

The prices of AMD GPUs have been disproportionately high recently as they've been very popular with cryptocurrency miners, and that demand has pushed prices up for gamers.

As for the RAM, replacing it or adding more (your motherboard has 2 free slots, yes?) to 8gb total would likely be beneficial.

thanks a lot for your reply, given what you mentioned i may just invest in a new PC, given that this one may only last 1 or 2 years more
