Is there a way to use laptop ram in a desktop?

Hi, was just wondering if you could use laptop memory in a desktop. My friend says he is in his server.
Is it possible? I thought they were different sizes.

Yes it is possible but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have thoroughly checked the compatibility of the modules with your system. It's better just to buy real dimms.

Personally, I wouldn't use any ram in a desktop that wasn't specifically for a desktop motherboard. I think you may suffer from compatibility issues, which may lead to BSOD's and instability.
