Is it okay for ssd to be on its side floating on top of cables?

Exactly as the title says, I installed my new 840 evo 500gb and its my first ssd, all i can say is thanks PCS its awesome! But I didnt have a spare bracket so i ghetto'd it up and put it on its side to fit and laying on top of a pile of cables, i know doing that with a mechanical is bad but is an SSD okay?

EDIT: Also, anyone got any suggestions of things i should upgrade next?

Ssd's run pretty efficiently with much reduced heat and zero vibration. I think in the short term the drive will be fine where it is, but I'd try sourcing a cradle to house it properly when you're able to.

With regards to upgrades, your rig looks pretty sweet as is... What makes you want to upgrade anything?

I don't think its an issue, if you don't move your rig about very much you can mount the SSD pretty much anywhere, if you do just ensure you check it regularly to make sure its not moved.

I've seen many a SSD being stuck to cases upright and off at jaunty angles!

Okay ill try and find something at some point! I dunno, sometimes I feel like I want more power hahah! People say a 780 ti is overkill for gaming but honestly there are a few scenarios where it dips under 60 fps, such as bf4 on ultra settings when i look in from the outside of the map, obviously a good amount of stress is being put on it because everything is being rendered! Or in things like dayz, I cant run it on absolutely max settings in cities because the fpsis horrible, i know optimizations will come but I want fps now hahah! Thinking about getting a new monitor next tho, maybe the new ROG swift! Also my skyrim game with 64 graphics mods occasionally dips below 60 hahah!

you could always use some double sided tape and stick the ssd on the back of the mobo tray. If there is room of course.
