Iron man style monitor, will it be possible?

hey all, I am very bored so I have an interesting subject that I would like your thoughts on. As some of you may know I have a passion for technology, after watching some of the iron man films it got me wondering, do you think we will ever see iron man style monitors - pic - iron man monitors.jpg in this picture the monitors seem to be just a thin sheet of glass, no internals, so I thought maybe a projection onto the glass, but one of great detail? just an idea.
As a follower of technology I found this new glass keyboard a similar style to the tech of iron man - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANy5YPKGbpY - so this got me thinking, if we can create a multi-touch keyboard and mouse of glass, how hard can it be to create an iron man inspired monitor? it would be an amazing piece of technology think 4k, no bezels, ultra thin and light, 144hz, 1ms response time, from a single piece of glass and a bit of futuristic tech :D

so what do you think? thought and opinions are more than welcome.

Well, anything is possible really. I'm now 62 years old and the technology available today was not even dreamt of when I was a child. My father repaired radios and TVs as a hobby so he was pretty clued-up on electronics etc. (he got me interested in all this stuff) but he would have never believed that you could have a mobile phone, never mind one that was also a computer.

We live in amazing times. :)

I don't see why we wouldn't be able to have them.. We already have technology like Kinect available to the general public which allows you to use hand movements and voice commands to control your Xbox. Yes, hand movements may be a bit sloppy at the moment but that's bound to improve. I always found voice command to work very well on Kinect though and although it could also use some improvements (it's not quite a woman talking back to you listening to your every command yet) I think it's on the right tracks. And as for like see-through screens, didn't they release/announce a smartphone recently that was a see-through piece of glass? Most people didn't like the idea of it though as it would breach privacy as people would be able to see what you're doing...

To be honest I think the general public can be held slightly responsible for the delay in innovation at times. Using the Xbox as an example again... The Xbox One was going to require Kinect at all times as it would be constantly on and able to listen to your commands regardless of whether the actual console was on or off, etc etc. People didn't like this as they felt they would be vulnerable and therefore Microsoft had to go back on all their 'innovations' and go back to being pretty much a standard console.

I know the Xbox One wouldn't quite have been like Tony Stark's computers but it is the track we will have to go down if we want to get to that stage of technology. Unless everybody decides to become a genius by themselves and build their own systems that they can personally secure and ensure that they're not being watched then it just won't happen in the near future.

Other than the Xbox One though, we are already seeing things like Oculus Rift and that treadmill thingy and the real life vest that is meant to replicate 'pain' while gaming (might stop CoD fans from running out so easily xD). These are all pieces of technology that are heading towards really immersive gaming experiences, similar to things you see on films like Gamer and stuff (apart from the fact I hope we won't be using real life prisoners as game characters..).

I realise I'm talking more about Iron Man's overall setup rather than just his monitor... If you're really only interested in whether we will get an ultra high def glass monitor, then yes, I'm 99% certain that we will. The technology is probably already out there although companies wouldn't be able to milk so much money out of us if they brought out such a sudden change straight away ;) Obviously this is all just my opinion but like I said, I'm certain they announced a phone which was basically just a piece of glass so I can't see why a monitor would be much more difficult.

Edit: After a very quick google as I'm meant to be working, I think this may have been what I saw: http://www.highsnobiety.com/2012/04/17/glass-smart-phone-tablet-concept/

I know it's not a very informative article, but the concept is there. And I'm sure if I searched for longer I would find what I originally looked at!
