Internet Speed Issues on my new desktop

Hello all,

I recently received my new desktop from PC specialist which is really top notch (vortex1600 spec).

Only trouble is I am currently having issues with the internet speed, when plugged into the same Ethernet connection my laptop reaches a download speed on 68mbps, whereas my desktop reaches the grand speed of *drum roll please* 1.5mbps!

Is this common with new desktops? is their any advice on how to tackle this?

Hi Charris,

Is your desktop 'plugged in to Ethernet' also? Or is it wireless, if wireless check (as SpyderTracks suggested) that you've installed the antenna to the wifi card. If its plugged in it certainly isn't a common thing as far as I'm aware. Have you tried both the laptop and the PC from the same connection (i.e. the same Ethernet cable/etc.)?

RESOLVED: The issue was more with my provider, as the desktop was "new" to the home network it didn't prioritise the device. Thankfully the support from PCS helped me refresh and clear my IP and then I conducted a basic router reset, back on a high download speed. Thanks for the responses all!
