i7 3820QM Temperatures

Hey, I have a PCS laptop with a 3820QM and 7970M. The 7970M reaches around 70 degrees in heavy gaming sessions, but the CPU hits up to 90 degrees. This seems pretty hot to me... any thoughts or advice?

Yer don't worry about it lol, I have the same but mine reach much higher. My 7970m reaches about 80-85 degrees during heavy usage and I've seen my CPU go up to 102 degrees. I've checked online and even these temps are within normal operating temps. So yours are perfectly fine :)

Cheers for your reply. Yeah it is within max operating temp, but it still seems awfully hot... maybe just because I'm coming from my desktop with custom h20...

can I get some more input here though? Wondering if its worth taking it apart and changing the paste? Does that void warranty?

You shouldn't void your warranty, unless something bad happens caused by you then it would.

Quoted from PCS:

if the actions of the person installing the components cause damage to the computer, your warranty will be void;

if you install components that are not purchased from us and they cause problems with your computer, your warranty will be void;

if you install components that are not purchased from us we will in no way support you in installing them or with any problems you have relating to the components you have installed.

we will support you in installing components purchased from us providing you have purchased them through the upgrade service available on your online account.

which you can see in full detail about the warranty here in section 6.
