Rising Star
So, as some of you know already, I've been saving for a while for my new rig, I've had a long time to save and even longer to think about it. I was jumping in head first and trying to get as good as I can without spending a lot more than I was saving for; the plan was between SLI 670's, 680's or even a single 690.
The price range, dependant on the GPU choice ranged between £1800-2300. For a long, long time I've been off and on with the decision of finally getting the rig, and things like the fact I used the reason of not being able to play a single game, that I want to try buy the rig for weren't the best of reasons to have to spend that much on it.
I got to the point recently where I thought its just not worth it, I don't play games as much as I used to and have a trend of not completing many (I've had Dragon age 2 for two years and the first even longer, still not played them enough to complete).
With that I had decided I'm not getting the rig, and things came up where I was having to break in to the savings for the rig a bit. By then it seemed I wouldn't be getting it at all either way, until my main desktop has started showing signs of its old age more frequently.
I decided to get on the configurator and ended up messing around with it, I ended up speccing a new rig that wasn't too beneath the one I had intended to go with before all of this in terms of power/performance, I managed to get the price down by roughly around the price of a single GTX 690.
I think it is safe to say the new rig is back on the cards at a greatly reduced price, for some reason previously, I just seemed blind to the fact I can buy enough to play new games comfortably and use the PC however else, upgrading as and when.
If things go smoothly I can have it payed for within the next 3 weeks, between what I am owed from what I lent out from my savings and the amounts I've been putting aside when I receive my money, I should have enough to cover the computer and have savings left over for 'rainy days', or maybe sunny days is a better one, considering British weather.
The only problems I'm having is deciding on whether to get the 120GB Kingston V300 SSD paired with the 1TB Black cav, or just the black cav alone and which of the Keyboards between the Razer Deathstalker or Lycosa. I'd prefer the Lycosa for the blue lit keys, but if the other is better...
For the addition of the SSD I believe it is £77 more, but the two keyboards are both £69. If anyone is experienced with either/both keyboards and can advise me, it would be massively appreciated.
As a last thing, if anyone knows where the OS XP can be purchased (preferably within the UK) it'd be a big help, otherwise I can just settle for win7 (not for my rig, though, I'm getting 7 for that either way. XP is for a relative).
