Hello all

My new PC arrived yesterday and so far I am very pleases (full review of my PCS experience to follow) but I have one question.

The PC runs very quiet and cool however the HD seems to make quite a lot of ("clattering") noise when it is being read from/written to. it is not a loud noise but is noticeable.

It does not bother me unless this suggests there is a fault; can anybody advise please (spec below)

Case - COOLERMASTER ELITE 310 BLUE CASE
Processor (CPU) - Intel® Core™i5-2400 Quad Core (3.10GHz, 6MB Cache)
Motherboard - ASUS® P8H67-M LX SI (NEW REV 3.0): M-ATX,
Memory (RAM) - 4GB SAMSUNG DDR3 DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (2 X 2GB)
Graphics Card - 1GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 460
Hard Disk - 640GB WD CAVIAR BLACK WD6402AAEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (7200rpm)
Power Supply - 600W Quiet 80 PLUS Quad Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan (£59)
Processor Cooling - SUPER QUIET 22dBA TRIPLE COPPER HEATPIPE CPU COOLER (£19)

Thank you

Mick

The Black's do have the traditional mechanical crunching noise during read / write. The only thing to be wary of is ticking followed by small freezes on the PC.

Thanks Gorman - that's put my mind at rest.

I was stuggling for a term to describe - "mechanical crunching" is just about right!

Does the hard drive sound quieter the more you turn the music up? I can hardly hear mine now, but the neighbours keep hammering on the wall for some reason! :hammer:

Oh, and this helps too :walkman:
