How many RMAs have you had? Has anyone had zero?

Not at all intending to slander PCS, they do a brilliant job and they can't be blamed really for hardware faults but im just getting a little worried with all these problems people have. Some of you may remember that last year I bought a laptop that had to be sent back for four RMAs! And yes I know Im the odd unlucky one. And im sure that most people don't have any problems at all because obviously you wouldn't come on here and say you didn't have a problem! But has anyone here truly had to have zero RMAs? I really cant be bothered with sending this new PC back at all but would just like to know the chances haha!

I know it must seem like there are alot of problems with customer's machines and build times etc. posted on this forum but remember that this forum is for tech support. That is why people post their problems here :) Unfortunately the happy customers (the majority) are usually the quiet ones.
I can assure you that I have never had to RMA a single component in the years I have been a customer at PCS.

These types of threads serve little to no purpose, they are becoming quite common and if this one derails like some of the other ones then it will be closed. So I suggest if people intend to reply they just state how many RMA's they have had and not go into how unacceptable or not it is.

PCS send out 100's of system per week and mistakes will happen. What makes it onto the forum is a highly condensed sample, it would be wise to bear that in mind.

For the record I have 2 builds and 0 RMA's...

Ahh no sorry if anyone thinks I'm trying to be insulting, personally I think PCS are the best computer providers on the planet ahah! Just because they're in the UK, have very cheap prices and have so many options available! Thanks fo the responses guys! Just wanted to know if I was actually unlucky!

1. Sort of.

I had a dodgy fan - PCS sent a new one out that same day and it arrived the next.

I also had a couple of software issues - but that was down to the new W8 release and various driver issues, so not their fault, and I fixed it myself.

1 order from me, 0 RMA.
But what would you expect? A PC business would not likely stay in business if a large proportion of people had to send the product back.

I had 1 on my desktop. That was because both of my sticks of ram packed up at the same time ( I think id had a power surge or something). I had it back within a week though.
0 on my laptop.

My colleague at work recommended PCS to me and he has never had any issues with the 2 he bought from here.

Think about this hypothetical situation related to the Acme Widget Company (we'll call them AWC).

AWC build over 50000 widgets in a year.

500 of those subsequently have problems.

That means 0.1% of those they build develop a problem.

On the AWC tech support forum the 49500 who have no issues never post.

All 500 with problems post on the tech support forum.

Is is a fair test of how good AWC are to use the tech support forum (where 100% of the posts are problems) to judge how good ACC are at building widgets?

the thing with computers is, when something fails or causes problems. It's either going to a hardware issue or a software issue. I would argue that if the user doesn't have a good knowledge of PC hardware and software, it makes the experience of having computer related issues increasingly stressful for the user. I would also argue that most pc related issues are due to software/driver issues not hardware faults.

I was sure I typed an extra zero in there. Perhaps it was one of those new invisible ones?

Yup, they exist! My actual number of RMAs is 00, but my first post only showed 0! (I blame the PCS forums, terrible service...)

I've had 6 RMA's so far. One of which was my entire computer going in to try and fix something. 3 GPU's and 2 PSU's. One PSU just died on me, second had some surge issues. First 2 GPU's was an attempt to fix a problem, thought to have been a GPU issue. Third GPU was a more powerful version of mine they put it to replace a regular one because that was all they had in stock, but that wasn't very good with my system and caused it to crash and power surge a lot so I got a regular one again.

Very soon I'm afraid I may be going for a 7th. An issue I'm having Isn't really getting fixed, and I may be sending in my computer again.

But that being said, none of it is PCS's fault. The 2 PSU's was really really unlucky. The 2 GPU's were just to try and find a solution to a fault that unfortunately didn't work. The third was just a compatibility issue. And this issue I have now is so weird and seemingly one off and random I'm not surprised it hasn't been fixed yet.

I'm not surprised the people on the forums and PCS have not just got bored with me being on tech support.

Hi,

It looks like I am gonig to have one, will call them first thign tomorrow, I actully sent a text to my boss telling him I will be in late as I will need to be on the phone with PCS. Multiple problems with mine I am afraid, just had it last week, but I do understand that problems like this happen. So I just had it for a few days and I really don't even want to think about how long it will take untill i get it back.

Had a couple of replacements on my first machine I bought form PCS though, neither were PCS' fault as such, 1st was my memory dying 4yrs after getting the PC which they promptly sent replacements for under a lifetime guarantee, the 2nd was the hard drive failing about a year after getting it which they replaced with no quibbles at all even though it was out of the warranty period and was very likely to have been caused by the PC being turned off mid game by a power cut.

Had a few issues with the new PC which were fixed right away over the phone and were more to do with my preferences than actual issues (cabling was tight across the front of the MB instead of behind, blocking access to the PCI-E card, other cables tied down so tightly I couldn't used them without cutting the ties and rerouting them, fan cable too tight on the board and bending the pins etc)

I've always had great after sales support from PCS.
