How is this build for Graphic Design, Streaming and Gaming?

Hi everyone.

I plan on buying a new PC and therefore move on from my ever-so-beloved iMac. Simply this computer isn't good enough for what I intend on doing (apart from graphic design). The graphic design does include some intense 3D rendering on Cinema 4D and also just some basic Photoshop work. I intend to play past and future games at high quality and also stream at a high quality.

Here is the build I am looking at:

Processor (CPU) Intel® CoreTMi7 Quad Core Processor i7-4790k (4.0GHz) 8MB Cache

Case NZXT H440 MID-TOWER GAMING CASE (BLACK/RED)

Motherboard ASUS® SABERTOOTH Z97 MK1: USB 3.0, SATA 6.0GB/s, THERMAL ARMOR

Memory (RAM) 16GB KINGSTON HYPER-X BEAST DUAL-DDR3 2133MHz X.M.P (2 x 8GB)

Graphics Card 4GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 970 - 2 DVI, 1 HDMI, 1 DP - 3D Vision Ready

1st Hard Disk 1TB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 32MB CACHE

Power Supply CORSAIR 650W VS SERIESTM VS-650 POWER SUPPLY

Processor Cooling Corsair H100i GTX Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler

Thermal Paste STANDARD THERMAL PASTE FOR SUFFICIENT COOLING

This is my first time building a PC and have researched some of the parts. Please can anyone give me some guidance before I splash the cash.

What is your budget. The WD Blacks are better HDDs and do not cost much more. You could also consider a small (120 or 240GB) SSD for the OS and main progs.

Good PC but I recommend getting an ssd for your OS. 120GB would do just fine for your OS and programs and maybe a few games if you want. I'd get a Samsung 850 Evo.

Budget is £1300. With the WD Black 500GB the price is £1282 however I am willing to be a little flexible for its worth. Should I get an SSD also? Which would you recommend? Thanks for the reply!

An SSD is not a necessity but very handy as it will dramatically increase boot times and loading times for the progs on it. If you can afford it I would give it serious consideration. Stay away from the Kingston V300s as they have performance issues but the Kingston Hyper X and Samsung are both good drives and about the same price.

Would a 120GB SSD suffice?

It will be fine for the OS and main progs, although I do not know how much space the rendering progs will take. I doubt you would want more unless you intend to put a lot of games on it.
