How do i request an RMA if my warranty is out?

So I've had a problem with my Optimus IV laptop since I first received it from PC Specialist in which every now and again the laptop would crash when playing games by either just turning off or with a blue screen. I never returned it because it took almost triple the estimated delivery time to get to me, about a month and so I thought I'd just power through as the error only occurred once every few weeks. But as time went on the problem got worse and worse to the point that some games could not be played and others crashed often. I still could not return the laptop however as I needed it for school as I'd just returned to doing my A levels. Now my workload has lessened so I decided it was time to sent the laptop for repair. I emailed pc specialist asking if they could help and they said to request and RMA. I tried to but it tells me I can't because my warranty has expired and the one year collect and return has expired. Could someone please tell me how I can request an RMA in another way as I'm willing to pay for the shipping I just want to finally have what I payed almost £900 for, a laptop capable of playing games.

when did you place your order? I assume you got silver warranty, it only cover parts for 1 year so you may incur additional expenses apart from shipping if there is a problem with hardware.

Early August 2012. Yeah the silver warranty. Will I be able to get the parts for free considering the computer was sent to me faulty or will they just go by the warranty and say I have to pay?

Did you report the problem to them before the first year was up? - If so, some of it may be claimable under warranty, if not then I'm really not sure (but the pessimist part of me says I wouldn't have thought so since if it wasn't reported then there's no way to prove it was faulty previous to the warranty running out)
The best way to find out would be to ring them (this will get you the answer the quickest) or email/message them

Yeah I emailed them about it quite a while ago asking for help and they told me to reinstall drivers, windows etc all of which didn't work but I couldn't pursue it further due to school work. I think i'll give them a call tomorrow, will I be able to be authorised to send it for repairs on the phone? Even if it means I have to pay for parts and shipping because the RMA is shut out for me on the website due to the whole warranty thing.

Unless an RMA was issued within your warranty period I don't think so. But for an official response, as Rakk mentioned, contact PCS.

You will still be able to get it repaired by PCS, they can arrange it over the phone. However as the others have said you will need to pay parts and shipping if you have not told them about the problems within the warranty period.

Perhaps if you contacted them within the warranty period and they instructed you to reinstall the driver etc then you may be covered as it did not fix the problem. Might be cheaper taking it to a local repair guy if your out of warranty, worth looking at that option too.

Let us know how you get on.
