How about these?

Hi all :)

I'm looking at these specs, and I wanted to know what everyone else thought:

AMD Phenom IIx4 Black Edition 3.2ghz
4GB Samsung DDR3 Dual 1333MHz
ATI Radeon 5830 1GB
600W Quiet 80 Plus Dual Rail PSU

I want to run less-demanding games such as The Sims 3 on the highest settings, but also be able to handle more demanding games fairly well too. Would this build be up to the job? (Case is the InWin Dragon Slayer if anyone was wondering.)

Thank you.

Yes this will handle The Sims 3 no problem. Bear in mind that it's a poorly optimized game though - it runs a bit jaggy regardless of the setup.

More demanding games will be accessible too, but you might have to turn the settings down a bit in a year or so.

Post the full spec if you want us to give it an overall evaluation.

As Tom says, post the whole lot with max budget, and we'll find out if there's anything that could do with a change ;) such as a 64mb cached HDD? :)

Here are the full specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition 3.20GHz
4GB Samsung DDR3 Dual 1333MHz (2x2GB)
1GB ATI Radeon HD 5830
1TB Serial ATA 3Gb/s 16MB Cache(7200rpm)
600W Quiet 80 Plus Dual Rail PSU
Super Quiet 22dBA Triple Copper Heatpipe CPU Cooler
Onboard 6 Channel 5.1 Hi-def Audio
Logitech S120 2.O Black Speaker System
3 Year Silver Warranty
InWin Dragon Slayer (Black) Case

I have to have that case due to size restrictions at home, and my budget is £700. Thank you both for your replies. :)

This is all looking good but id suggest you up the HDD to the WD10EARS 64mb cached drive atleast, for £5 more, the extra cache should give you a smoother eperience especially on initial boot-up when bootup programs like AV kick in.

Awesome, thank you for being so helpful. I didn't realise it was only £5 extra. My current build now comes to £698, so would you say I'm getting the most I can for my money?

Thank you both. :)
Do you know if any prices will be dropping over the next 2 or 3 weeks? Just wondering as I might be able to upgrade a thing or two, although this build looks great as it is.

Speced a rig for a friend and the price infact rose by about £10 after, its all to with supply and demand, stock markets, and exchange rates unfortunately and not so much new tech.

Ok then, fair enough. :) Really looking forward to getting it, my current computer is like a dinosaur at times.
