Hey guys so i specced up this guy on the PcSpecialist website. I really am after a system that will last long and will give me great performance, im not so much a graphics junkie but i really do like high FPS gameplay. My current system just isnt giving me enough FPS in newer games.

Graphics Card - 4GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 970 - DVI, HDMI, 2 x mDP - 3D Vision Ready
1st Hard Disk - 120GB KINGSTON V300 SSD, SATA 6 Gb (450MB/R, 450MB/W)
2nd Hard Disk - 3TB WD BLACK WD3003FZEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (7200rpm)
1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive - 24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
Power Supply - CORSAIR 550W VS SERIES™ VS-550 POWER SUPPLY
Processor Cooling - Corsair H55 Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler

Would appreciate some opinions on this build! thank you!

EDIT - also with regard to fans, i appreciate the importance if cooling although, i would prefer the quietest!

Looks good apart from the SSD, the V300 series of SSD's are not great and do not reach the stated read/write speeds. Go for the Samsung instead, it is probably the best of the rest. Also Homeplugs will offer a more stable connection than wireless cards, especially for gaming.

Maybe, but I get this kind of performance consistently via wireless (I haven't cherry picked a top result). No skips or drops.

How much better does it need to be?
Experiences will vary.

Totally agree, it varies. Depends on how far the Desktop will be from the router and what's in the way. My office downstairs seems to be a total WiFi deadzone so homeplugs were the best option.

With regards to fans, i too love quiet. I wouldn't get the extra from PCS without knowing which brand it is, some are much louder than others. For me, I got the fractal design R5 case. It has insulation to absorb the sound. I wasn't happy with the noise from the radiator fans on my Corsair 100i cooler so bought corsair SP120 quiet editions and have them configured for push pull making it much quieter. Temps are still great even with an overclock. The 980ti's PCS supplied are Zotac AMP edition and the fans have a freeze mode and don't spin up unless needed. Not sure if the 970 is the same.

Yes, the 970 also does not spin up until under, effectively, heavier load. I think that's common across the whole 900 series of all brands.
They start spinning at 60 degrees. Unless gaming or using something that does processing on the GPU they won't get to 60 degrees unless perhaps you are in a very hot environment.

So idea for build is a high end gaming PC, however some points to include is that i would like a quieter PC, living in a house where people sleep early and my current PCs fans going nuts has always been an issue :tt2: Also my router is downstairs and i have to use WiFi, im currently using a Linkens Network Adapter which works fine, but i have added the wireless card to replace that. Any additional points or adjustments would be great, i went for the i7 as i also wanted a future-proof build. Thanks
