Herman Miller warranty & service

Just thought I should follow up on my 'good news / bad news' post in the One-Liners thread, about my experience of HM for my damaged Mirra 2 seat.

This is the condition that I needed fixing...

I tried pulling the rubber 'skirt' back over the pins, but it just wasn't happening, so I went onto the Herman Miller website to see if I could find any DIY instructions or parts available for the end-user, but this turned out to be a dead-end as the resources were locked behind a login for authorised repairers only.

BUT, I did find out that there's a 12 year warranty on it, and so with nothing to lose I put in a warranty claim.

Lo and behold, I was told that this was a valid warranty issue and a HM engineer would call to give me a better idea of when they could repair/replace...and next day I did get the call, but was told it could take upto a month for 'non-standard' parts to be supplied (i.e. not black, grey or dark blue).

Well, yesterday morning my replacement seat pan was fitted (in about 10 minutes)...

...then the engineer pointed out that there were some cracks forming in the seat back and he'd order a replacement for that when he got back into the office! I've checked and they seem to be surface cracks at the moment (can't even feel them), but if it's a free replacement then who am I to argue ;)

I know these are expensive items - and about 20% more expensive now (£1100) than the £900 RRP when I bought it back in 2021 (and I only bought it as there was a 15% off deal), but the prices I saw for replacement seat pans of £170 (ex. vat) makes that 12 year warranty well worth the price.
