Help with spec

Hi,

I am configuring my custom desktop on the site. I have basic understanding of computers and still finding selecting the appropriate items difficult.

What I require

dual screen
Mostly just surf the internet, watch youtube etc
gaming (Games like h1z1, csgo)
Multi tasking (1 screen gaming while other screen on internet or 1 screen watching video and one screen on internet)

Questions

1. From my description above is 8gb ram more than enough? This seems to be the standard amount nowadays. Is this too much for what I need or do I need to pay for more?

2. I am unsure about graphics cards. Is it simple enough to assume the higher gb the better the card? What size would be the minimum you would recommend?

3. I am clueless about motherboards. I do not have the slightest idea which would be the best option and the benefits of selecting a more expensive one or the cheapest one.

4. I am unsure on CPU. Again is it correct to assume i7 is better/newer than i5. Would I be better paying slightly less for a good i5 than an i7?

5. Processer cooling. I have no understanding on the benefit of this. Do I need pay for this or will the standard cooler do the job?

I would like an intel machine. Someone told me I should get kaby lake but I do not really understand what that is or the benefits.

I would like a balance between good value for money and a build that will last me a long time without having to upgrade.

Thanks in advance

Steven

A maximum budget will help to get an idea of what choices you have.
1) 8gb ram should be fine now but if you want to futureproof and can afford it you could choose 16gb ram instead.
2) depends on your budget. The VRAM is not a good indication of performance.
3) any will do the job
4) depends on your budget. An i7 is better and would futureproof your system for longer.
5) the standard intel cpu cooler is not very good

Unfortunately its not as easy as that, its the model number that says how powerful it is, but again you can't just compare two numbers against each other (cos that'd be far too simple right :))

3. I am clueless about motherboards. I do not have the slightest idea which would be the best option and the benefits of selecting a more expensive one or the cheapest one.
If you don't require any of the specific features of a particular motherboard then often the cheaper ones will suffice perfectly well

Yes the i7 is better than the i5, but dependent on budget it can often be better to go for the i5

Well if you let us know your budget I'm sure some suggestions can be made :)

Edit: I type too slow ...

My maximum budget is 1500 however this includes buying 2 monitors, mouse keyboard and desk. Ideally would like to spend as little as possible however I also do not want to handicap myself. If it is not possible t hen I can stretch it a bit

You can get 23-24" IPS monitors for under £100 if you shop around, and Ikea desks for ~£100 or so.

So it should work out close enough to £1500.
