Help with new laptop, for digital photography/ video editing

Hi I'm a bit new to this and could do with a bit of good advice in buying a new laptop ,I want a good clear 17 inch screen laptop to do a lot of digital photography/and video editing a lot of old family tapes and general use ie music, surfing and very occasional game. my budget is round about £800.00 to £900.00 at a stretch, but don't want to buy what I don't really need , so if you could be so kind and you can give me some help and good advice I would much appreciate it , I look forward to hearing from you ,thank you, Christine..

Hey,

As your using this laptop for mostly home use and the software your using isn't power hungry the specs that you have above is ideal for what you plan to do. My experience is in photography, editing and VFX.


All the components you have picked will be able to handle any home videos, as the most that you will probably be using is HD video files and RAW files from DSLR's if you use them. The only slight change I would make it going up to 16GB RAM. But 8GB of ram for those software is fine in my opinion, the good thing about the option that you have is that it can be expanded if needed as you only have one slot taken for the RAM.

The SSHD hard drive you will see is a good choice, as the applications you use the most will load much fast and the size of the hard drive allows you to store loads for your needs.

But when doing any editing or photography work, always have a backup on an external drive running a schedule atleast once a week.

I think you have done your research well and know exactly what you want, this is a laptop that will last and can be upgraded in the future.
