Help With A New Gaming PC

Hi there

I last posted here in 2012 (time is brutal) and thanks to folk here I got a PC that lasted 10+ years. Alas, my machine is on its last legs (no complaints, it's done remarkably well) and as I've recently become disabled and I'm home a lot more I thought it was a good time to go all-in on a new PC. Unfortunately, I have no idea where to start.

My budget is around £3k, and the type of games I'd like to play at a high fidelity are the likes of Cyberpunk, Alan Wake 2 and the new Indiana Jones game. I also play WoW/FFXIV if MMOs change anything about the spec.

Thank you in advance for any advice you might be able to give, I really appreciate it : )

What monitor(s) are you running for the gaming? That will be the key to determining what's worthwhile on the GPU front.

Next gen GPUs are due out the end of the month so certainly worth waiting to see what they bring. 3K is pretty much a have it all budget but there's no point in over-cooking the GPU if the monitor is lower end.

I think I might need a new monitor too as I'm currently using an old ASUS vs248. Thank you for the heads up on new GPUs! I'll come back when they come out : )

If you're thinking about a new monitor, be sure to include a budget for it as well so that we can suggest pairings. Most would recommend an ultrawidescreen for best immersion, there are some crackers in the £600ish range I believe. Just depends what you want to spend and how much space you have available.
