Hi all,

I am looking to buy a new fairly powerful desktop for home that I will need to perform various tasks from simple web browsing / office applications, to basic photo & video editing as well as running itunes, storing pics / videos & music etc... My budget is £1000-1200

I would also like to spec this & use it for a couple of years without really having to upgrade anything so it needs to have HD & blue ray.

Anyway initial spec is as follows.

black aluminium trigon case+2 front/side USB 2.0
intel core i5-680 dual core (3.60 GHz, 4MB cache) + HD graphics + Turbo Boost
Asus P7H55-M SI: Micro ATX mainboard, USB 2.0 & SATA 3.0 Gb/s
4GB Samsung DDR3 Dual DDR3 1333 MHz (2 x 2Gb)
1Gb ATI Radeon HD 5770 PCI Express - DirectX 11
750GB Serial ATA 3-Gb/S Hard Drive with 16mb cache
10 x Blue-Ray re-writer drive 16 x dvd r/rw
internal 52 in 1 card reader
450W quiet 80 plus dual rail psu + 1220mm case fan
Intel socket LGA 1156 standard cpu cooler
onboard 6 channel 5.1 high def audio
wireless 802.11N 300 Mbps PCI express card
6 x USB 2.0 ports @ back panel
genuine windows 7 home premium 64 bit
office 2007 home & student
kaspersky anti-virus
llyama E2271 HDS" LED widescreen HDMI/DVI-D full HD 1920x1080
logitech wireless desktop MK250 keyboard & mouse combo
logitech X-540 5.1 surround sound effect with full range & deep bass
standard delivery & warrenty

comes in at £1143.00 inc VAT

Before I order... any comments on how this package will perform & if I am over or under speccing something are welcome, particularly the processor, memory & graphics card.

thanks in advance

This will perform a lot better than the build you posted and will be future proof due to the 6-core processor, USB 3.0 compatability and SATA 6.0 GB/S on the motherboard. I've upgraded the graphics card for better performance while photo/video editing, upgraded the hard drive for an overall quicker system and added the silver warranty for any failures within the first year (when most of them happen). If you don't want to spend that much you could downgrade the processor to the 1055t.

Thanks for the spec Phoenix, think I will go for this.

I have never had a PC with an AMD processor before but, nothing ventured nothing gained!!

One final question... With the llyema monitor, does it come with a HDMI / DVi cable or do I need to order one?

Well, I know the 24" Iiyama comes with VGA and DVI cables (having just got one last week), so the one you've ordered probably has the same cables.

Thanks, I thought I had read somewhere that the llyama came with a DVI cable.

Right final final question! Probably me just being over cautious as i am sure Phoenix's spec is great & with Sleinous' approval. But thought I better ask just in case. I noticed when speccing from the PCS home page an AMD performance machine, an uprated CPU cooler is automatically specified, will the standard AMD CPU cooler be sufficient with the above spec?

1. IIyama monitors do come with DVI cables as standard.

2. Extra cooling is not required, but optional. The PC will be sufficiently cooler with either CPU fan, but better cooled and quieter with the advanced cooling options.
