Help on new PC build please

Hi, so I’ve never really built a pc before but after researching many parts I’ve ended up with the below. Would this be great for high performance playing games and for future AAA games also. With all the new consoles coming out I thought I may as well make the switch to pc and then just upgrade or replace parts if need to. Any advice would honestly be so appreciated! Thank you guys :)

I would never recommend a mini-pc system. Are you willing to have a more traditional build? What is your budget?

Your usage is 1080p AAA gaming I guess? No other usage?

hi Scott, yeah I’m quite open minded and my budget is flexible - yes for gaming purposes not other usage than maybe general use. Thanks for your help

also side note, what part of the Pc that I built was mini? That bit confused me

That's a mini form factor configuration, cramming a lot into a micro case.

When you say budget is flexible, what's your maximum? Obviously there's a ceiling where there's no point building above, we don't wanna spec up a 10k system if you're budget is 1250?

Hi, Joesph. Yes, I'd also suggest that you change to at least a "mid-tower" for your PC case. This would definitely help prevent the various components, such as the CPU, RAM, and Graphics card, from overheating and will also help make your PC more future-proof. A bigger PC case would also be helpful in your case, considering you are going for a stock AMD CPU cooler as opposed to liquid cooling.

I'd also suggest that you select a higher wattage for your power supply (PSU). A 550W power supply wouldn't be sufficient to run a 6-core CPU and an 8 GB AMD Radeon RX-5700. AMD officially recommends a minimum wattage of between 600W and 700W for their RX-5700 card. Feel free to go over to their official webpage for confirmation. :)

Having lower wattage (550W in your case) could lead to power throttling and system crashes/blue screen of death events. I'd suggest that you at least get 650W or 700W of power for your PC as it would definitely come in handy for the future too... in case you decide on upgrading your system components.

It would be a shame to have a nice new system without a fast M2 drive to be honest but that's obviously up to youtself.

I would recommend the Silver warranty for £5. Saves you the return costs for any issues found.

Also thanks again for all yours guys help, If it werent for ya'll i would have a mini that would overheat and im glad i came hear and sought advice instead of jumping straight into a purchase.

Does it make a difference if i have 1TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 7200RPM, 64MB CACHE in the M2 Drive or do you recommend that be in the M1 drive? Thanks Scott :)

I think you're getting mixed up.

The 1TB Seagate drive is just conventional storage. It's not a particularly fast drive and would only be used for holding bulk files that don't need speed.

The M2 drive I'm mentioning is the type of connection the drive has. In my recommendation it looks like this...

1st M.2 SSD Drive
512GB PCS PCIe M.2 SSD (2000 MB/R, 1100 MB/W)

This is a PCS branded drive but you can see that its speed is VERY quick. It's the best value M2 drive, the next one up would be the Samsung EVO 970 but it's quite expensive.

Looks pretty good to me. The 650W PSU is much more power than you need but it does mean that if you choose to upgrade the GPU in the future you don't need to consider if you have enough power :)
