Help building gaming PC

Hi Everyone,

I have spent a few days looking through the forums and trying to learn enough to put together a gaming PC. Turns out I still have no idea what I'm doing.

So I am wanting to build a PC primarily for gaming. For playing games like COD warzone mainly. I currently have a laptop from PCS that I bought a few years ago, not really for gaming. I have tried to use it for warzone but it seems to struggle a little.

Budget around £1500. I currently have this monitor https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-U28E590D-28-Inch-LCD-Monitor/dp/B00WUACE4S which I believe is only a 60hz monitor so I will probably upgrade to a 144hz within the next few months. (if anyone has any suggestions for a monitor please also let me know).

I would like to build so it will last a few years (GPU, RAM etc)

Thank you in advance for any suggestions or advice.

Tom

I am not planning on gaming in 4k. 1440p would be max for me. One other question that I have is around cooling. Would the standard cooling be enough or would it be worth spending the extra to upgrade?

Which ultra quiet system would you suggest.
I also do a little bit of video editing from time to time in 1440p. Would this change anything?

Definitely
Also what kind of FPS would I be looking at with this set up?
Between roughly 120FPS and 144FPS (limit of the screen).

I would adjust it a little if you're including editing:

Thank you all for your help, I wouldn't have had a clue. Just a few more things. Would the changes made for the video editing reduce the quality of gaming?
Also what do you mean by a 'scratch drive'
Also also, do you happen to have any recommendations for monitors to pair this with?

Again thank you for all your help so far!

Would the changes made for the video editing reduce the quality of gaming?
No, the GPU is perfectly matched for the screen, any higher GPU would have had exactly the same performance as the screen is the bottleneck.

Also what do you mean by a 'scratch drive'
Scratch drive offloads some processes to disk when the RAM gets too full. Vastly improves editing and rendering times.

Also also, do you happen to have any recommendations for monitors to pair this with?
What’s your max budget for the monitor?

OK that makes sense thank you. And in terms of monitor I was thinking 1440p 144hz but I dont know if that goes with the PC build.
In terms of budget I was planning around £2k for the whole PC build, monitor, keyboard and mouse.

This is a fantastic monitor for the price, 32" 1440p 165Hz HDR10 and curved, ticks all the boxes. It's actually about £50 cheaper on this site as well!

Hi again,

Would you have any updates to this build based on the new 30 series Nvidia cards that have recently been announced.
Also that monitor looks brilliant but ideally I would like a smaller one, probably no bigger than 28"

TIA
