Hello all

Hiya everyone,

I'm seriously considering ordering an Optimus IV from PCS and I've been lurking on these fora for a while now trying to get a feel for the problems people have with PCS builds. I'm most impressed so far though I do wonder from some of the posts in the Technical Support forum quite how much testing new builds get. I plan to order my Optimus IV sans OS and I do wonder how much testing it will get with no OS on there? Still the spec is very good and the price is excellent so I'll probably bite the bullet and place an order in the next week or three.

As to me, I'm an old git. No really I am, I've been retired for the last 8 years from a lifetime in IT system support (micros, minis, mainframes, PCs, networks etc. etc.). My first ever processor was an SCMP-4 which was a 4-bit microprocessor with 256 bytes of RAM. No screen or keyboard of course, just keys and LEDs. No OS either of course. I can't remember the clock speed but it was probably measured in hours :D

I'm enjoying the friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful folks on here. Thank you all!

Hi ubuysa

just joined too - also retired but in 1998! The first Dig. Comp. I worked on in the early 60's had 8 switches - 7 for data and one parity; it took forever and a day to program!
I still have a Macintosh plus and a Commodore 64.
regards

Ron

Hey!

I wrote a book on the Commodore 64, "Secrets of The Commodore 64" by P Cornes and A Cross (I'm the second one) published by Babani, ISBN 0 85934 110 0. I doubt it's in print still now but we got a free machine each to research the book and the small royalties paid for a few luxuries. Happy times.....
