Headphones and mic not working

Hi, I seem to be having issues trying to get my headset to work properly. If I plug my headset into the headphone socket on the front of my pc the mic will not work. So now I have bought a splitter cable: https://amzn.eu/d/aD7iosi
But this doesn’t seem to work when I plug them into the back (see picture). Am I doing something wrong?

Can only think that splitter is jank.

Try without the splitter in the case audio connector
